Green ribbed eggplant, African dwarf eggplant, Togo eggplant has a very bitter taste and it is the shortest variety in height (less than 1 meter) among african eggplant. Plant produces many good size flat ribbed green and then red fruits when ripped. It is similar to bitter tomato but the fruits of this variety are smaller in size as compare to bitter tomato, It is used in many African dishes. Can be planted in a flowering bed as a showcase for its beautiful color.

Fruits Typically green, is chopped, cooked and mixed into a variety of vegetable, meat, or fish stews and sauces. Although bitter taste is a major characteristic, The unripe fruits are usually cooked in a sauce after being chopped, parboiled, ground, or otherwise prepared. Peeling is unnecessary because the skin becomes tender enough to be consumed along with the rest. They are among the few vegetables that reach full flavor only after being cooked beyond the crisp stage.
