General Information:

The wild custard apple is usually a multi-stemmed deciduous shrub growing 2 - 6 metres tall, but in favourable conditions, especially in east Africa, it can become tree-like and as much as 11 metres tall.


Edible Uses:

The edible yellow pulp of the ripe fruit has a pleasant, pineapple-like aroma with the flavour of apricots. The yellow to orange fruit is around 5cm in diameter.

Other Uses:
The boiled flowers are used as a source of perfume by local people

An essential oil is found in the leaves.The major constituents are car-3-ene in the fruit and linalool, a perfume is made from boiled leaves


GERMINATION PROCEDURES:

1. Soak seeds overnight in hot water. 

2. Clean the seeds in the next morning then used fresh room temperature water and soak them until evening. 

3. Then use 1g/1L dilution of GA3/Gibberellic Acid and soak them overnight.

4. Germinate the seeds outside with 73/93 degrees F daily temperatures and 50% humidity.

5. You will start to get germination after 5 weeks of planting.


GERMINATION NOTE: 

Germination period of annona senegalese seeds is dynamic, the germination period behave inconsistent. From my own experience and customers feedback confirmed that, germination of this species depends on its pretreatment method, you can get germination within 2-8 weeks after planting, recently one of my customers confirmed that he got germination of his annona senegalese seeds at 14 months after planting.
